Information we collect

CampusSwap stores the information needed to operate a local marketplace: your name, email address, selected school, account identifier, listings, listing photos, pickup location, saved listings, purchase requests and offers, private messages, safety reports, notification preferences, and notification device tokens.

Login sessions may record an IP address and device or browser information for account security. When you permit location access, your phone location is used to calculate distances. CampusSwap does not store that device location as your home address. A seller-provided pickup address is stored with the listing.

How we use information

We use this information to create and secure accounts, show listings for a selected campus, calculate distances, publish and save listings, arrange purchase requests and pickup, deliver messages and notifications, prevent abuse, investigate reports, provide support, and maintain the service.

CampusSwap does not sell personal data and does not use personal data for cross-app tracking.

Location and listing photos

Public listing maps show an approximate area. The exact seller-provided pickup address is available only to the seller and buyers whose request has been accepted. Listing photos are decoded, resized, re-encoded, and stripped of embedded metadata such as EXIF location before storage.

Service providers and disclosure

CampusSwap uses service providers to host the application and database, store and process listing images, send account email, and deliver push notifications. These providers process information only to provide those services. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.

Retention

Account and active marketplace information is retained while your account is active. Expired sessions and verification tokens are removed automatically. Closed deal conversations are removed after seven days, expired purchase requests after a limited cleanup period, and stale push tokens after 180 days. Resolved reports and approved moderation records may be retained for up to one year, and staff security-audit records for up to two years. Information may be retained longer when reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or resolving a dispute.

Your choices

You can change notification preferences, edit profile information, revoke location or photo access in iOS Settings, and delete your account from the CampusSwap Profile screen. Account deletion removes your profile, listings, listing photos, requests, and messages, subject to limited safety or legal retention described above.

Children and changes

CampusSwap is intended for college and university communities and is not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy as the service changes. Material updates will be posted here with a new effective date.
